Linear Periodization Program

Built for Beginners. Designed for Lasting Results.

0-1 Year of Training | 4x Per Week | 12 Weeks

  • If you're newer to structured strength training this is your starting point — and there's no shame in that. In fact starting here is the smartest decision you can make.

Think of it like learning a new language. If you're trying to learn German, why would you mix in Chinese or Russian halfway through? You wouldn't. You'd stick with German until you've built a real foundation — vocabulary, grammar, structure — before adding complexity. The same principle applies to your training.

A lot of people want something new every time they walk into the gym — a different exercise, a different stimulus, a different challenge. That might feel more exciting but it's not how you get stronger. Constantly switching movements before you've mastered them means your nervous system never fully adapts, your technique never fully develops, and your strength never fully builds.

The Linear program keeps your exercise selection consistent for 6 weeks at a time. Six weeks on the same core movements — squats, presses, hinges — is how your nervous system learns to move efficiently and safely under load. This process is called motor learning and it's the foundation that every advanced program is built on.

The first 6 weeks focus on building muscle and developing movement quality. The second 6 weeks shift toward building strength — increasing intensity, pushing closer to your limits, and developing the kind of force production that carries into every program that follows.

By the time you finish the Linear program you'll have the movement foundation and strength base to step into more advanced programming with real confidence.

Stick with German first. Everything else comes after.

5 Benefits for the Linear Program

Train the same high-value movements long enough for your nervous system to actually learn them. This builds coordination that carries over to every program after this one.

Motor Pattern Mastery

The 4-second eccentric on every set builds connective tissue strength and joint resilience that fast, explosive-rep training simply can't develop.

Structural Integrity

Linear loading means every week has a clear target. You always know where you're going and can see exactly how far you've come.

Measurable Progress

Four days per week hitting both upper and lower body equally — no lagging muscle groups, no overtraining, no guesswork.

Upper/Lower Balance

This program doesn't just make you stronger for 12 weeks — it prepares your body and nervous system for every training phase that comes after.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes — but not exclusively. The Linear program is designed for anyone in their first year of structured strength training. If you've been going to the gym casually, following random workouts, or just getting started — this is your program. The goal isn't to make training easy. It's to make sure your foundation is solid before adding complexity.

  • Casual training and structured training are very different things. If you've been going to the gym without a periodized program — no planned phases, no tracked weights, no intentional progression — you're still a beginner from a motor learning standpoint. When in doubt start here. You'll move through it faster than a true beginner and come out the other side with a real foundation.

  • Yes — and that's exactly the intention. The Linear program is designed as the entry point into the 40X0 system. By the time you finish 12 weeks you'll have the movement quality, strength base, and training habits to step directly into the Undulated program with confidence.

The 40X0 program library is also built to grow with you. Coming soon are Level 2 and Level 3 versions of the Undulated and Undulated Integrated programs — each one introducing exercise progressions that build on the movements you've already mastered. So finishing Linear doesn't just prepare you for Undulated Level 1 — it starts you on a long term training path that evolves as you do.

Think of it as completing level one before unlocking level two. And there's always a next level waiting.
